Our Team

Dr. Bob Scealy
Director
Bob is the director and founder of Qaive, and has 20 years’ experience in quantitative economics in the public, private and research sectors, and with specialist expertise in Computable General Equilibrium modelling. His experience spans a diverse range of industry and policy issues, including major project investment approvals, climate change policy, energy security, trade and tariff policy, Covid-19 impact assessment, labour market analysis, and taxation reform. Bob has extensive experience working with clients both domestically and internationally, including in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, Africa and the Middle East.
In Qaive, Bob is responsible for all aspects of service delivery, from project management through to model and software development.

Dr. Don Gunasekera
Associate
Don is at present a Research Fellow at the Centre for Regional and Rural Futures (CeRRF) at Deakin University.
Don has had wide experience in the Australian Public Service working in a range of organisations including the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE), CSIRO, Productivity Commission, the National Competition Council, the Department of Environment and Heritage and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. During 2006-2009, Don was the Chief Economist at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics. In 2008 Don led ABARE's climate change modelling work for the Garnaut Climate Change Review.
Don's research, policy and analytical expertise cover a wide area including international
trade analysis, food industry analysis and insights, regional and economic analysis pertaining to food, water, climate and energy related issues, the economics of supply change management, agriculture and energy industry analysis, sustainability and natural resource management, food, nutrition and energy security, natural disaster analysis and management, economics of pandemics and biosecurity threats, economy-wide analysis of domestic policy and global changes, and climate change adaptation.
